5 DIY Hacks to Avoid Tangled Jewelry Without a Jewelry Box

Have you ever tried packing jewelry for a trip?

We sure have!

I can’t imagine travelling anywhere without a necklace and a few pairs of earrings.

But, don’t you just hate how they all end up being knotted or tangled with each other?

It takes so much out of your travel time to unknot them and get them ready for your day out!

Today, we want to share some of our DIY tricks to pack untangled accessories.

The best part is, you can find these things laying around the house!

#1 Straws

  1. Take a straw (we prefer reusable ones)
  2. Unclasp your necklace
  3. Thread your necklace into the straw and have it come out of the other end
  4. Clasp your necklace back

This method is super simple and it’s impossible for your necklaces to tangle this way!

This technique will only work for one thin necklace.

Let’s take a look at some other methods.

#2 Toilet Paper Roll

Follow the steps of the straw method.

The great thing about this method is that you can fit a few necklaces together.

This method will work for larger necklaces and even necklaces with pendants!

#3 Create Pouches out of Pantyhose

  1. Grab a pair of cheap pantyhose
  2. Cut each leg of the pantyhose into 4-6 inch sections
  3. Place your clasped necklace into each pocket
  4. Seal with a clip, elastic band or string

Jewellers will usually place their store’s necklaces and earrings into soft velvet or fabric pouches. This pantyhose method is great because it is such an easy and inexpensive way to create your own!

Place these small pouches into another larger bag or box to keep them all together!

#4 Use a Pill Box

You know those daily pill boxes you keep your vitamins and medicine in?

They actually make great jewelry cases since they keep your small jewelry pieces neat and tidy!

#5 Vacuum Seal

Whether you are looking to pack small or large pieces, the seal and go method is great! Lay out your jewelry into a plastic wrap or plastic bag, keep approximately 1 to 2 inches between each piece. When you seal the plastic wrap, make sure the edges are sealed securely so each piece does not slide around.

These simple DIY tricks are simple and inexpensive ways to keep your jewelry safe and secure. No more tangled necklaces!
